Telangana Ranks 2nd and AP 4 in Corruption

Telangana State has occupied second position after Tamil Nadu in the corruption and Andhra Pradesh has been ranked fourth.  

The CMS-India Corruption Study 2018 report disclosed  73 per cent of households said they had bribed officials for availing public services in past one year.

The study also revealed Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Bihar and Telangana have witnessed higher citizen activism.Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have less activity of civil society fighting against corruption.

Interestingly,  the report said Transport, police, housing, land records, health and hospital services are considered to be most corrupt wings.Seven per cent of respondents said they bribed to get Aadhaar card. 3  per cent said they bribed to procure voter ID card.

The study stressed the need  poor performing states - Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, need better enforcement. Rajasthan, Karnataka and Delhi have been identified as ‘moderate’ performers.
